Equine event set to attract visitors in Saskatoon

After a very successful inauguration year, the Saskatchewan Equine Expo is returning to Saskatoon in 2013.

The expo features seminars presented by the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, demonstrations, clinics, entertainment, a trade show and competitions. Taking place for the first time this year will be Canada's Ultimate Cow Horse Competition; participants will compete in reined work, herd work and cow work over three days. First place pays a $5,000 cash prize.

There will also be a trainer challenge, a parade of breeds, the Equine Extravaganza and a miniature horse demonstration. In addition, guests can get a tour of the new Western College of Veterinary Medicine's (WCVM) facility, which is located at the University of Saskatchewan. The trade show area has been enlarged due to the popularity of last year's show. It will feature equine-related accessories, equipment, home decor, breed associations and various horse clubs. This will be a fun show for those who are horse owners or those who love horses.

Organizers of the expo are likely to be working with Saskatoon printing companies to prepare for this popular event. Services such as sign and poster printing will help to get the word out to the community.

The Saskatchewan Equine Expo will take place at Prairieland Park's Ag Centre from February 15-17. Tickets are $15 for adults or $40 for a weekend pass and $7.50 for youth or $20 for a weekend pass. The cost for the tour of the WCVM is $20 and will take place on February 15. For more information call 306-931-7149.
