Building event hosted for 19th year

March 17 marked the 19th annual North Saskatoon Business Association’s (NSBA) Business Builder Awards and Gala, which saw 13 prestigious awards handed out to local business leaders from various industries.

Each year, hundreds of businesses from across the city come together to celebrate local business successes and peer accomplishments. This awards gala featured two awards that are new to the roster, the Business Builder Award and the Young Promising Entrepreneur Award, which were voted through a real-time texting system.

According to Brenda Wasylow, who is the NSBA board Chair, these winners truly deserve their accolades because 2015 saw some very challenging times. She adds that they “demonstrated endurance, creativity and commitment” and persevered in the face of adversity.

The winning companies represent various industries, all of which require any number of support services, from printing companies and graphic design, to marketing and Mailing services. Without these types of support industries, companies would face many more challenges and require additional internal resources.

The NSBA began in 1965, when there were very few companies operating in the city. As Saskatoon’s population grew, so too did its business community. Today, the organization represents local businesses and protects their needs across the city by working with municipal, provincial and federal governments, as well as other industry associations, to ensure a better future for its local economy.
