A travelling exhibit entitled ‘Art of the Book’ will be on display in Saskatoon as of June. It is presented by the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
The reception for the exhibition is set to feature an open house of the Saskatchewan Craft Council's Affinity Gallery, as well as a discussion about the book arts.
Included in this juried exhibition are examples of fine binding, printing, paper making, and calligraphy; there will also be a selection of artists' Books on display. All items included were chosen by jurors Jonathan Tremblay, Jason Dewinetz and Karen Hammer.
The exhibition may give all those who attend a good background on the art that goes into creating Books – and how they can be considered art themselves.
A printed catalog is also available for sale at each stop on the traveling exhibition, including the Saskatoon one. Catalog printing is a great way to give visitors to art exhibits background details and provide them with a souvenir.
The Art of the Book will be showing at the Affinity Gallery from June 6th to July 12th. The open house and discussion will take place on June 7th, beginning at 2:00pm. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, from 10:00am – 5:00pm, and until 8:00pm on Thursdays. To learn more about the exhibit, call 306-653-3616.Get a Free Quote for Books
