Regina welcomes return of RCMP Sunset Ceremonies

The RCMP started out as a paramilitary police force intended to maintain order on the new Canadian frontier, and a Regina event series will hark back to its early days.

The RCMP will be hosting its Sunset Ceremonies, which have become a local tradition. It has taken place for the past 60 years, and there are four dates scheduled for July.

The events take place outdoors, and the cadets in their scarlet uniforms will perform foot drill displays. A field gun drill is on the agenda, and the Canadian flag will be lowered for the night. After this, the cadets will salute and march past the review officer. As there may be loud noises, hearing protection is recommended, and pets are not permitted. Everyone is welcome to bring a folding chair or other portable seating, and anyone who has special mobility needs is advised to arrive early so they can get settled in. As the venue is an active training site, Bags may be searched.

Marketing a special event to the public can be an important step in ensuring it will be a success. A poster printing company will be happy to help and can provide everything from traditional options to ones that are completely outside the box.

The RCMP Academy Sunset Ceremonies will be open to the public on July 1st, 7th, 14th and 21st. The Tourism Regina website includes the most current details.
