Vaughan area gourmand wins spot on national show
A Vaughan area resident will soon have a chance to appear on a TV show, and put her culinary skills to the test.
Julie Miguel, who lives in Woodbridge, was one of several thousand people who applied to be on the show ‘Master Chef Canada’. It will feature amateur and home cooks from all over the country. There were many applicants, but only the most impressive were allowed to move on towards being on the program.
Miguel was given an audition, where she prepared one of her specialty Italian-style dishes. The judges were so impressed that she was given a spot as one of the competitors.
Miguel is a senior analyst who has always enjoyed cooking and baking. One of her favorite styles is to take traditional Italian dishes and prepare them with her own personal twist.
This will be the first series of the show in Canada, and the winner of the competition will receive a grand prize of $100,000, which they will be able to use to further their culinary goals. Should she win, Miguel has said she would like to use the money to create a program that would teach low-income families about preparing healthy meals without breaking their budget
Others might want to use their winnings to open their own restaurant. If they do, a print company will be able to provide them with printed materials such as menus, signage, and other items needed to drum up attention.
