One of the York region’s most historic attractions will be welcoming in the holidays this December with a month full of winter programming.
Black Creek Pioneer Village aims to recreate life during Ontario’s past, and its holiday celebrations will incorporate historic practices, as well as more modern traditions. The attraction will be open on Saturday evenings for its “Festive Nights at the Village” event, which will provide popular holiday food and drink like peppermint hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies, as well as holiday entertainment from the 19th century, including puppet shows, parlour games, country dance, and a presentation by a professional storyteller.
The Village will also see a visit from Santa for several days. Young visitors can participate in old-fashioned toymaking and craft holiday decorations at the “School for Elves”, play Reindeer Carnival Games, or even pose for an “elfie”. There are also VIP visits available to spend more time with the ‘big man in red’. Black Creek is a popular family destination in York Region municipalities like Vaughan, as well as the larger Greater Toronto Area. Parks like this often use everything from graphic design to music to create a historic atmosphere that transports visitors back in time.
Black Creek Pioneer Village will be holding its “Festive Nights at the Village” and “Santa at the Village” programs on select dates from December 2 to 23.
