Drivers in the Vaughan area have an extra reason to feel good this Christmas, after the latest road safety figures were released.
Allstate recently released the results of a 24-month study which measured the number of motor vehicle accidents in the region as compared to the previous two years. They show a 6.7 per cent reduction in collisions in the GTA.
This is the fifth report of its kind to be released by the insurance company, which monitors accident rates in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. The results indicate that there has been an overall drop in the numbers of each area studied.
The company looked at 100 of its drivers and, in the Vaughan area, Newmarket showed the greatest reduction in accidents while Maple showed the smallest change.
The study also indicated that the days of the week with the largest number of accidents are Friday and Saturday, with Sundays having far fewer. It’s believed that this is down to several different factors, including large numbers of commuters on the road either leaving work or going out to socialize, driver fatigue and impatience at the end of a long week.
A representative from Allstate said that the company is very pleased with the results of the study, noting that they indicate that safe driving seems to be a priority for Canadians.
