Honour those who volunteer at Vaughan City Hall
The City of Vaughan Volunteer Recognition Awards ceremony will take place at Vaughan City Hall on April 18 beginning at 7:30 pm. The event will recognize outstanding volunteers from Vaughan for 2011.
The ceremony coincides with National Volunteer Week. Nominations were accepted for the awards until March 16; volunteers for community groups and not-for-profit organizations were eligible in two criteria, youth (age 15-24) and adult (25 and over). Those who are nominated are judged on the time and energy they put into the organization they work with, how they followed the mandate of the organization, how they went above and beyond in their work and how they qualify as a role model. Those who are chosen to receive the awards will be contacted and invited to the ceremony. Winners of the awards will receive
Vaughan brochure printers have helped the City of Vaughan to create an information package and nomination form for the Volunteer Recognition Awards. The colourful three-fold brochure gives background on National Volunteer Week, the City of Vaughan awards and also provided the nomination form.
Without volunteers so many not-for-profit organizations such as hospitals, community centres, libraries, food banks and animal shelters could not give the same level of service that we all expect. Their contributions can never be overestimated. These awards recognize those volunteers who show exemplary dedication and skill. While volunteers don’t expect to receive recognition for their work, it is always appreciated.
