Timmins workshop to teach phlebotomy fundamentals
One of a phlebotomist’s main tasks is to draw blood, and Timmins course will give members of the public who are considering this career the skills needed to perform the job with confidence.
Northern College and Northern Training Division will soon be offering a phlebotomy course, and it will teach participants how to draw blood efficiently, promptly and safely. It will be a hands-on class, and the registration fee is $298.26, which includes HST.
The students will each be able to get some experience in performing venipuncture, and this will be taught alongside capillary draws. The students will also be taught how to properly dispose of any contaminated supplies. Everyone is asked to dress casually in comfortable clothing, and they will be practicing their new skills on one another. The organizers have explained that no experience is needed to take part in the workshop.
Offering this sort of learning opportunity gives a college or other institution a way to support the needs of the local community. Training manuals and certificates can be prepared by print shops to distribute to each of the registrants to help them learn and recognize their achievements.
The phlebotomy class will be held on May 8th and May 9th. It will begin at 9:00am on both days, and it will be offered at the Northern College’s Timmins campus.
