Stoney Creek historic site to celebrate holiday season
A Stoney Creek historic site will be welcoming the arrival of another Southern Ontario winter with an activity that will explore what the season was like during the country’s early days.
Battlefield House Museum and Park will be offering its patrons a chance to take a step back in time to the 1800s. The site will be all decked out for the holidays, and the public will be able to see how the Gage family may have prepared for the season.
Visitors to the venue will be invited to walk the grounds and view the gardens that will be waiting for spring, and once they have had their fill, they can then head indoors to see the exhibits on display. The building will be warmed by several hearth fires, and it will be decorated with spruces and other evergreens the way it may have been in the 19th century. Admission starts at $5.25, and a family pass is available.
Even though they may not be open year round, many historic sites in Canada offer special activities in honour of the holiday season. Those that do will be able to order period-style banners and other materials to use in their display from banner printing professionals.
Stoney Creek’s Battlefield House Museum and Park will be offering this glimpse into the area's past starting on November 22nd, and the program will run until December 30th. The museum’s website provides more detailed information.
