Knowing the basics of sewing can mean more money in one’s pocket, and an upcoming Stoney Creek workshop is set to teach this skill to a group of local residents.
The Stoney Creek branch of the Hamilton Public Library system has scheduled a workshop that will teach the fundamentals of mending, and it will focus on some basic techniques. It is intended for adults, and will run for one hour.
The learners in the class will find out how easy it can be to keep their clothes in good repair. Mending a small hole, sewing on buttons, hemming slacks and patching will all be on the agenda, and everyone who Signs up is asked to bring some clean, damaged clothing with them so they can get in some practice. Buttons, thread, small sewing kits and teaching supplies will all be provided. Anyone interested can sign up now via the Hamilton Public Library website, and on signing up they will be asked to provide their library card number.
People of any age may appreciate the chance to learn some new skills, and a workshop gives them a chance to do so in a supportive environment. A flyer printing company can work with event organizers to create promotional materials.
The Clothes Mending Workshop will begin at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, February 6th. At the time of writing, seats are still available.
