Stoney Creek autism garage sale to raise funds

Autism affects many Canadian children and families and the Canadian National Autism Foundation is dedicated to promoting awareness and assisting families with resources and information to cope with the disorder.

The Stoney Creek chapter is holding a garage sale and book signing, set to take place on August 12 at the Canadian National Autism Foundation in Hamilton. The sale will help raise funds and proceeds which will go towards research in the Foundation.

Author Richard Stripp, who has written on the subject of autism, will be on hand to autograph purchased Copies of his latest book. The children’s book author has worked with many sufferers of autism who are unable to express what they wish to say and the book presents a harrowing look at the disability through the eyes of a young sufferer’s friend.

The garage sale is also soliciting donations from the public, who may wish to donate gently-used household items or other merchandise for consideration at the sale.

Local events organized by the Canadian National Autism Foundation could use the promotional services of local printers to help reach large target audiences and ensure the success of community charity projects. Flyer printing in mailboxes in the Hamilton and Stoney Creek areas could spread the news about the garage sale and encourage residents to donate to the Foundation. Poster printing advertisements in and around Hamilton should help ensure a large turnout and create publicity for the book signing, thereby increasing awareness of the cause.
