Stoney Creek area to fundraise for bees
Bumble, mason, digger and other native bee species, along with introduced types such as honey bees, will be the focus of a special event that will celebrate the winter solstice.
The Winter Solstice Bee Ball, which will be held near Stoney Creek, will be a night of entertainment and other activities that are intended to draw attention to the importance of these insects and why they are in trouble. Tickets for the festivities are $38.15, which includes a selection of bites prepared by local chef Jonny Blonde.
The plans for the occasion include lots of mingling, and a performance by the Hamilton Aerial Group will delight the guests. Locally made honey wine and mead will be the stars of the event, and everybody can hit the dance floor to show off their top moves. Paper tickets will not be issued to the registrants, and proof of vaccination is required.
The monies raised through this activity will be donated to Wildlife Preservation Canada, which will use them to help fund various projects that aid native bumblebees. Brochure printing companies will be able to prepare materials for educational events and fundraisers like this.
The Winter Solstice Bee Ball will be doing a good turn for the country’s pollinators on December 21st at The Cotton Factory in Hamilton. Everyone is welcome to arrive starting at 6:00 pm.
