Prime commercial real estate for sale

Vacant land on the west side of Stoney Creek has been put on the market by the city of Hamilton.

Located at the busy intersection of King Street and Centennial Parkway South, the land is currently zoned for commercial uses, like a shopping plaza, restaurant or a parking lot. However, rezoning for residential use would be possible to allow for the development of a condominium or apartment building.

The land carries an asking price of $3.25m, offering an ideal location near the Queen Elizabeth Way and the Red Hill Valley Parkway, as well as public transit links (including the new Centennial Go-Train station due in 2018). The area also features convenient shopping and nearby restaurants.

Offers to purchase the land are being accepted by the city of Hamilton. Proposals may be submitted on personalized business Forms, and include graphic designs of the planned building. All bids must include a 10% deposit.

The land was purchased in 2013 for an addition to the Battlefield House Museum. The city paid almost $1.8m for the property, but the project was ultimately cancelled after public access issues were raised. The land has since been declared by city councillors as surplus.

Proceeds from the sale of the land will be split equally between the Stoney Creek Urban Design Capital Projects fund and the Terrapure Royalties fund.

Proposals will be accepted at the city hall in Hamilton, located at 71 Main Street West, on the seventh floor. The deadline for submissions is 12:00 noon on September 25.
