In June of 1813, Stoney Creek was the site of one of the battles of the War of 1812, and to mark the occasion, Battlefield House Museum and Park will be hosting its annual re-enactment activities.
The weekend will include a variety of battle re-enactments, and there will also be fireworks and other fun that combines history and education. There will be something on offer for all ages, and the event has been listed as one of the province’s top 100 events.
Attendees will be able to visit the museum and learn more about what it was like for early residents of what would later become part of Canada. The re-enactment actors will be in full costume, and the public will have an opportunity to see how they loaded their weapons, what their uniforms were like and discover some of the tactics that were used on the battlefield.
Each person who comes to the event will be given a wristband upon entry, and this will allow them to come and go as they please throughout the weekend. A printer in the local area can use graphic design to craft items such as these.
The Stoney Creek re-enactment weekend will be held on June 2 and 3 at 77 King Street West. More information and a full list of activities can be found on the historic site’s website.
