A free conference featuring experts in the field of Eating Disorders will be happening later this month in the Hamilton and Stoney Creek area.
The National Initiative for Eating Disorders (NIED) will be hosting the event that seeks to inform and answer questions regarding healthy body issues and sufferers of these syndromes. Speakers at the seminar will include experts in the fields of nutrition, clinicians, parents with children diagnosed with an eating disorder, as well as testimonies from persons currently struggling and recovered from the illness.
An expert panel of women has been assembled for this seminar, including Carly Crawford (a Registered Psychotherapist), Sara Wolfe (a Registered Dietitian), and Andrea LaMarre (a PhD candidate in Nutrition at the University of Guelph). Speakers may distribute Presentation Folders and note pads during the event.
This free workshop is open to all ages, and will mark the 60th Symposium hosted be the NIED to date. It will be held at The Atrium at McMaster Innovation Park, in Meeting Room 1 A, located at 175 Longwood Road South, in Hamilton, on Monday November 27. The doors will open at 6:30 PM, with the event running from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The NIED was formed in 2012, with the first workshop held in Toronto. Since then the group has become the voice of caregivers and sufferers of Eating Disorders, creating awareness of the far reaching devastation the illness can leave in its’ wake. NIED is committed to hosting these events all across Canada, and donations are welcomed to help them achieve this goal.
