GritLit festival has plenty to offer fans of the written word in Hamilton

The GritLit literary festival is coming to Hamilton in early April.

No doubt of interest to people in nearby Stoney Creek, it will feature Canadian and international authors such as Roo Borson, Vincent Lam, and Rawl Hage, who will be reading from their works and hosting writing workshops. There are varying prices for events, ranging from free to $9 each.

One event taking place during the festival is ‘Hamilton Reads: Battle of the Books’, which will take place at the Hamilton Public Library. Ten local celebrities will defend one book each from the OLA 2013 Evergreen Reading List. Audience members will be able to buy raffle tickets in order to win all of the Books.

One of the talks which will take place is ‘Canada: Beyond Peacekeeping’, which will be presented by Noah Richler and Scott Taylor. The final event of the festival will be the closing night cabaret, which will feature music, poetry, and readings of both fiction and non-fiction.

Hamilton printing companies have likely been called upon to help the organizers prepare for the event by providing such services as poster and flyer printing.

GritLit will take place in Hamilton from April 3 - 7. ‘Hamilton Reads: Battle of the Books’ will be held at the Central branch of the Hamilton Public Library on April 3 beginning at 7:30 PM and admission is free. The talk ‘Canada: Beyond Peacekeeping’ will take place on April 6 starting at 3:30 pm. The closing night cabaret will happen from 7:30 pm.
