The festival will feature a weekend full of Serbian culture, including live music and Balkan dance performances. Past editions have included Serbian dance groups like Bozur and Kolo, as well as representatives of other cultures from Mexico to India. Live music also includes rock, folk and classical sounds with a Balkan influence.
Children can participate in sport competitions and other activities. There will be four tournaments in sports like soccer. Cultural events like this often use flyer printing and social media posts to reach out to the larger community. Advertising for the festival states that:
“It’s an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills, make new friends, and experience the camaraderie of the Serbian community. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just looking to have fun, there’s something for everyone.”
There will also be Serbian dishes, snacks and drinks served all day. Traditional cuisine items include grilled meat, savoury pastries, desserts and more. The festival is hosted annually by local volunteers and members of the Serbian-Canadian community, and has become a staple of the end of Ottawa summers.
The 2026 Ottawa Serbian Festival will take from September 5 to 7. Admission and nearby parking will be free for all attendees.
