Taste in the Glebe to return for 2020

This January will see the 22nd edition of one of Ottawa’s most established food events.

Taste of the Glebe aims to offer the best of the trendy downtown neighbourhood, and to raise money for a good cause along the way.

Located along Bank Street between the Rideau Canal and Highway 417, the Glebe has long been home to numerous bars and restaurants, and its proximity to Carleton University makes it a popular destination for students.

Taste in the Glebe was created to highlight the best culinary work being done in the neighbourhood. Over its two decades of existence, the event has proved reliably popular, with the 2019 edition, which hosted 400 guests and raised $24,000, selling out in less than an hour.

The event is split into two portions, a Main Event featuring participation from Glebe favourites like Il Negozio Nicastro, Kettleman’s Bagels and Life of Pie, and a high-end ‘Premier’ which offers seated tasting of fine dining restaurants like Bekta, Fauna and Pelican.

Taste in the Glebe will raise money for the Glebe Neighbourhood Activities Group, which offers recreational and social programs throughout the year. Events like this, often advertised through poster printing, help to establish a sense of neighbourhood identity and bring people together.

Taste in the Glebe will take place on January 16 at the Glebe Community Centre.
