The Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) will once again be holding an end-of-year auction to help raise money, but this year’s event will feature a new virtual format that spans over two weeks.
The auction will feature over 50 artists from the National Capital Region whose works are available to view online and in person by appointment. After a week of viewing, potential buyers will be able to make bids through the Bid Beacon app over the course of the second week.
There will be a dinner on the opening night of bidding, which will be a four-course affair created by Bar From Afar, MyCatering and Dominion City. It will be delivered to the door of some participants, recreating the banquet at the traditional auction.
The OAG auction, dubbed “Give to Get Art”, will feature local artists like Anne Wanda Tessier, Colette Greco-Riddle and Maria Aguilar-Cruz. The artworks use a variety of media, ranging from painting and graphic design to metalsmithing and silkscreen printing. Of the money bid, half will go to the artists, with the rest contributing to the OAG’s operating expenses, including the free programs it runs to help develop the art community in Eastern Ontario.
Give to Get Art will feature an exhibition both at the Ottawa Art Gallery and through its website, running from December 5th to the 18th. The auction component will kick off on December 12th and run until the 18th.
