The annual Italian Week festivities will return to Ottawa’s Little Italy neighbourhood this June.
The event aims to celebrate Italian culture and community. The week will kick off with an Italian Week Scavenger Hunt that incorporates riddles, trivia and social media, designed by Lockdown Ottawa. One highlight will be the Masterclass series, where professional chefs guide attendees through perfecting Italian dishes, such as focaccia bread, as well as wine tasting.
For families with younger children, there will be various kid-friendly events, including live bedtime stories from the Italian series Strega Nona and a screening of the 2019 film version of Pinocchio.
Italian Week will conclude with a Grand Finale Weekend, which takes the form of a street party with live performances of comedy, music and more. A number of street artists have also been invited to help decorate the area in real time. Among them will be Julianne Buchholz, who won a visual art contest hosted by the Italian Week organizers earlier this year and will have her work featured as part of festival materials. The creation of such materials often includes brochure printing. Local poets and other literary writers will also be part of the festival through a reading event called “Books and Biscotti”.
The 2022 edition of Italian Week will take place throughout Ottawa’s Little Italy neighbourhood, centred on Preston Street, and it will run from June 10 to 19.Get a Free Quote for Books
