A special music event this April will be looking to welcome the spring with a beat as eleven soul acts hit two of the national capital’s most unusual and beloved venues.
The one-day festival is called the Ottawa Soul Music Festival, but is better known as Bangers & Mash. The music featured will include genres ranging from R&B to jazz fusion. All talent is based in the Ottawa area. The line-up includes rock and soul quartet The Lionyls, international singer songwriter Rita Carter, and ten-piece funk group Good Advice. In addition to live music, there will also be DJs keeping the dance floor busy and the party going late into the night.
Organizers built anticipation to the event with a pre-fest event on February 29, featuring past festival performers Slack Bridges and Mackenzie Rhythm Section. Bangers & Mash is looking to secure its place in Ottawa’s busy summer music scene, which includes major festivals like Ottawa Blues Fest and CityFolk as well as concerts throughout the summer. Events like these are often advertised through printed materials and striking graphic design.
The 2020 edition of Bangers & Mash will take place on April 18, with concerts occurring simultaneously at two locations. The first is House of Targ, the downtown pinball arcade which has become a busy underground music venue, and the other being Ottawa literary hub, Black Squirrel Books.
It is advised to check if the event is still going ahead.Get a Free Quote for Books
