It may seem an unusual duo, but Ottawa’s Craft Beer Market is looking to unite exercise and the pub with its “Bend + Brunch” series, going on all fall.
Each Bend + Brunch event begins with an hour of yoga, led by the Yoga on Tap studio. This will be followed by a classic breakfast, with participants able to choose between options like avocado and white cheddar “bennies” and vegan raspberry oatmeal pancakes. They can also get an early drink in, from a local craft brewery. The featured brewery will change every month and be designed to suit the season. For those looking for less of a buzz, kombucha will also be available.
The rise of small “craft” breweries, often making themselves known through clever graphic design and poster printing, has led to increased diversity in the market. One example is fruity brews like Whitewater’s Cranberry Sour, featured during October’s Bend + Brunch event. Events like this, or Craft Beer Market’s evening Brewmasters Dinner series, are another important way for smaller breweries to get the word out and compete with the big labels.
The last fall edition of Bend + Brunch will take place on the morning of November 23 at CRAFT’s Bank Street location. Attendees are asked to bring their own yoga mat and water bottle, and be prepared to get flexible.
