The annual Bytown Days festival is taking place on the last weekend of the month.
The festival celebrates the Rideau Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site and the workers who built it. It is presented by CHOO / COPO.
There will be lots of family-friendly activities taking place over the three-day event that should appeal to people of all ages. There will be heritage talks and guided tours during the day on Sunday, a ceilidh (Gaelic themed) dance on Saturday night, musical entertainment, and First Nation activities. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Arts and crafts vendors will also be on hand. Guests can take Voyageur canoe rides as well.
The final day of the event is the 21st annual Colonel by Day celebrations. It is set to feature costumed characters, interactive activities, demonstrations by reenactors and various exhibits from heritage groups. This event will help children and others learn about the history of the site and the operation of the Ottawa locks.
Sponsorships are available for purchase. No doubt organizers will invest in sign printing services from an Ottawa Print company to recognize those who give their backing to the event.
