A May career fair held in Ottawa will focus on finding jobseekers an opportunity in the film, television, and animation industries. In addition to being Canada’s national capital, Ottawa is a hotspot for Canadian media, particularly animation. The fair looks to attract current students and recent graduates of media programs, industry veterans looking for new opportunity, and professionals in other industries considering making a change. Attendees will want to come prepared, dressing well and perhaps stopping by nearby printshops for some extra resume and business card printing.
The career fair will take place on the afternoon of May 4 at the Horticulture Building in Lansdowne Park. The event is hosted by the Ottawa Film Office, a local governmental organization dedicated to developing the capital’s film and television industries. About $100 million in film production takes place in Ottawa every year, and that could significantly increase in years to come, with the Film Office looking to build a major studio complex in the Greenbelt.
Local universities are well-known for programs that prepare students for a career in government, such as Carleton’s prestigious journalism department or the animation program at Algonquin College.
