A water park in the Ottawa area will be reopening this July for the first time in over a year.
Calypso Theme Waterpark has said that it is ready to re-open as soon as provincial health restrictions allow. The park is located in Limoges, Ontario, but typically draws in visitors from across the National Capital Region. It has also been announced that new jobs will be available at the park.
The park’s attractions include the largest waterslide tower in Canada, a 35-metre drop called Summit Tower; twisty attractions like Turbo Lab, Turbulence, and Vertigo; and the Calypso Palace Wave Pool, which is also billed as the largest attraction of its type in Canada. The park also contains a number of locations for food and drink, including the Ulysses Bar and Grill, Penguins Stop and Tam Tam Ice Cream Shop.
The park is currently set to open under Step 2 of Ontario’s re-opening plan, which includes waterparks, along with outdoor cultural events and personal care services. Water and amusement parks often use colourful themes and characters to distinguish themselves from the competition, as well as creating a market for Promotional Products and gift shop items. Calypso is no different, using a theme based on Greek mythology and creating original characters like Sara Max to appeal to children.
Calypso Theme Waterpark is set to open on July 5, although this date could be changed based on health guidelines.
