This August, Ottawa’s Nostalgia Music Festival hopes to attract lovers of classic music with what is being billed as the ultimate tribute event.
The festival will feature five days of different tribute or cover acts, each paying homage to a famous musician or group from the 70s through the 90s. Group names include One Vision of Queen, Chicago cover group Brass Transit, and The Van Halen Invasion, as well as tributes to artists ranging from David Bowie to Phil Collins. Each act is paired with on-stage effects to recreate the eras of the artists’ primes. There will be an assortment of food trucks and drink stands, as well as a water station on site.
The Nostalgia Music Festival is designed to be fully accessible, including sit-down areas with full-service bars and large-format screens to make the shows visible at all distances. The VIP Zone features cabaret-style seating and private washrooms. Past editions have drawn large crowds to see recreations of famous acts from past eras. Festivals such as this have seen a boom from older music fans as well as the old at heart, often advertised using retro graphic design and aesthetics, and can feature cover artists or reunions of the original groups.
The 2023 Nostalgia Music Festival will take place from August 23 to 27 at LeBreton Flats.
