Popular Ottawa marketplace 613flea has announced that it will return this April, with monthly dates in place for most of the year.
The market is known for its wide variety of vendors and items. It includes vintage, antique and resold goods, such as clothing, records and comics. It also welcomes local artisans, artists, cooks and bakers to offer their new creations.
Across its 10 dates in 2019, 613flea saw over 55,000 visitors, with each event featuring a line-up of at least 140 vendors. It has had to make adjustments to accommodate social distancing restrictions, such as requiring shoppers to purchase tickets in advance, but it was able to hold a successful market in the fall of 2020.
Recent 613flea markets have featured unique items, such as paintings of Gatineau Park, Artsy Soap shampoo and body wash, and Brownie Hawkeye cameras. Markets like these offer opportunities for small businesses and local artisans to reach a wider audience, often using business card printing alongside their products to let customers know how to contact them year-round. Many such markets have also turned to virtual or outdoor formats in the last year to try to maintain a connection between vendors and customers.
The 613flea market is set to return to its home at Aberdeen Pavilion in Lansdowne Park on April 17, with monthly dates for future markets scheduled until November 20.
