As July moves into August, The Bytown Days Festival will be taking place for five days.
This year's theme is Voyages 400 and it will be highlighting the history of the Aboriginal and Francophone cultures in the area. The event will also be celebrating the naming of the Rideau Canal as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There will be lots of entertaining attractions taking place over the five days including parades, heritage talks, guided tours, demonstrations, and exhibitors. Some of the groups that will be entertaining the crowds will be the 100th Regiment, the Heritage Hands Drum Club, and the Ottawa Storytellers.
Several community organizations will also be on hand to provide activities and information, including the City of Ottawa archives, several local museums, and the Historical Society of Ottawa. There will be many costumed characters, and food and drink will be available for purchase. The festival will finish up with the 20th annual Colonel by Day.
Ottawa attracts droves of visitors to visit its many historic sites and museums. This event will likely be mentioned in the items produced by brochure printers that end up being distributed at countrywide tourism offices.
