Festival brings the stars to Ottawa

The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival is taking place this summer for 10 days.

The celebration will be spread out over several locations, such as Confederation Park (home of the main stage), the National Arts Centre and the Rideau Centre.

Some of the best known current musical acts will be coming to the city to perform. They include The Soul Rebels, Duchess, Bruce Cockburn, The Steve Miller Band, The Christine Jensen Jazz Orchestra, Tower of Power, Huey Lewis and the News, and many more. Food concessions will be available at Confederation Park, as will a merchandise and CD tent.

Running concurrently with the festival is the TD Jazz Youth Summit. Several young musicians were invited to participate in the two-week long residency program. While here, they will take part in clinics and will have the opportunity to perform with some of the world's biggest musical stars.

A program guide will be available and will most likely be provided by one of the many Ottawa printing companies. Local businesses can also purchase advertising space in the program.

The TD Ottawa Jazz Festival will take place from June 18th to July 1st. Daily tickets cost between $25 and $80. Several passes are also available. A gold pass costs $310, bronze $190 and youth (age 12-25) is $90. To find out more about the festival, call 613-241-5774 or visit the official website.
