After a successful 2022 edition, the Big Bang Festival will be back in Ottawa this winter, with an emphasis on both music and sound of all types.
The educational event contains a number of unique experiences aimed at all members of the family. One concert, called “Alice Factory”, will feature cinematic clips from the many film adaptations of Alice in Wonderland, accompanied by live music inspired by the classic story, with both English and French editions. Ottawa-based funk group the PepTides will also perform their brand of positive, high-energy music. The National Arts Centre Orchestra will also be involved with the Big Bang Festival, performing a chamber music concert called “The WolfPUP Sessions.”
One of the festival’s main draws is its music rooms, which feature rotating 15-minute “micro-concerts” with small audiences, designed for kids who may not have the attention span for a full show. Announced talents include urban dancer Tangent and live DJ Rise. Other interactive experiences at past editions have included “musical Postcards” and “soundpainting.”
More events will be announced in the lead-up to the event. Music festivals such as this typically use methods like flyer printing and radio advertising to let the community know what they have to offer.
The 2023 Big Bang Festival will take place at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa on February 18 and 19.
