Cracking up the Capital is taking place in Ottawa at various venues beginning at the end of this month. Many well-known comedians will be performing during the festival including Mary Walsh, Cathy Jones and Big Daddy Tazz.
There are many
events planned for the festival including a Guinness World Record attempt for the most snowmen built in one hour which will be attempted on the first day. This event will help to raise funds for several mental health organizations such as the Causeway Work Centre and Partners for Mental Health. Participants raise pledges of at least $5 and join teams hosted by various organizations. The opening night of the festival will also feature "So you Think You're Bilingual" with Derek Seguin at the Mayfair Theatre beginning at 7:00 PM.
Other events include the "Best of Second City" on February 4 at the Algonquin Commons Theatre and "Comedy Night in Canada" at Landsdowne Park on February 6 which will also feature the presentation of the Canadian Comedy Icon Award to Mary Walsh.
