Ottawa’s municipal summer camps will return this July in a new form, with a program dubbed Camp Summer Fun.
The new program will replace the city’s usual offerings with a focus on smaller groups of kids and exploring the outdoors. The focus will be on games, crafts, and sports, held outside where possible. Whereas the typical program divides campers by age, Summer Fun will allow for kids between the ages of 4 and 12 to work together, allowing for siblings to stay close. The new camp will also feature a higher ratio of staff to campers, with two counselors assigned to each group of eight children.
Camp Summer Fun will launch with 688 spots, consisting of 86 groups of 8 at different locations across Ottawa. More spots may open up later in the summer. Some specialized camps will offer French programs and those intended for priority populations and Inclusive Recreation clients. Programs like these often use brochure printing services to advertise to parents and inform children of schedules and safety requirements. Camps can help children develop both competence in arts and crafts as well as vital social skills.
Ottawa will launch its revamped summer camp program beginning on July 6 at locations ranging from the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum to the Johnny Leroux Arena. Families who had previously registered will need to sign up again for Camp Summer Fun.
