One of Ottawa’s biggest music festivals will be back this summer with a special series of drive-in shows.
Ottawa Bluesfest typically attracts tens of thousands of visitors, who drift between a variety of stages while enjoying food and drink from local stalls and trucks. This year’s festival will feature a single stage with a large-scale LED screen, which will also be streamed online.
Instead of speakers, the audio from the music will be broadcast via radio for the cars in attendance to tune in or set up portable speakers. Food and beverage may also be available, with plans to be announced in the run-up to the event.
The 2020 edition of Bluesfest will be headlined by Canadian rock artist Sam Roberts, indie-pop star Patrick Watson, country singer-songwriter Tim Hicks, and Quebecois songstress Marie-Mai. The line-up features more of a focus on Canadian and local musicians than the typical festival, with each show featuring five supporting acts. Concerts like this, whether attended on foot or in cars, use tools like flyer printing with colourful graphic design to reach a broad base of music fans.
Bluesfest 2020 will take place on the weekends of July 31-August 1 and August 7-8 at Place des Festivals, near the typical LeBreton Flats site. The show will also be live-streamed on the Canada Performs Facebook page.
