Specialized facility for Autism Spectrum Disorder opening in 2016

A new 58,000 square foot building on Sea Island in Richmond will be the location for the Pacific Autism Family Centre, a place that will aim to provide families with ongoing support, treatment, information, learning, and care.

The facility will include a library, out of school care, recreational activities, a treatment centre, a lifespan program, and a 24-hour autism line, as well as job assistance and support for individuals 18 years and older with learning challenges. It will likewise contain a high-tech research centre.

Higher education schools and professionals wanting to gain a greater insight or more experience and education, on autism spectrum disorder will have the opportunity of working directly with the children involved in the centre.

Families who have children with autism, including founder of GoodLife Fitness, David Patchell-Evans, have hope in the facility. He commented:
“When my little girl was diagnosed, help was virtually non-existent. Today, I have hope.”

Work began in December on the $33m project, and the facility is due to open its doors in early 2016. When new businesses and community programs like this one open to the public, they could benefit from the assistance of printing companies to help with brochure, poster and flyer printing, bringing awareness on what the business or program will offer the community.
