A bulk load of entertainment, activities, delectable eats, cultural celebrations, and maritime demonstrations are once again being offered to Richmond citizens and out-of-town guests in August.
Situated along the scenic Steveston Channel of the south arm of the Fraser River, Britannia Shipyards’ 22nd Annual Richmond Maritime Festival will include an assortment of live music, a variety of eating options provided by local food trucks, the work of artists, and tours of a broad selection of restored wooden maritime vessels.
Historically, the Britannia Shipyards served as an important West Coast cannery facility before evolving into a dockyard. The current site hosts twelve buildings of cultural and commercial significance.
Sponsors include the City of Richmond, Richmond Arts Coalition, and the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site Society. Organizations like this often use local printing services to turn out promotional information for the public.
Funding is being provided by the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canadian Heritage Building Communities through Arts and Heritage grant program, the BC Arts Council, and the Province of British Columbia, the festival will be attended by representatives of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society, Ocean Legacy Foundation, Sea Dragon Sea Scout Group, 10th Richmond Sea Scouts, Tourism Richmond, Vancouver Maritime Museum, and Richmond Fire Rescue.
