Richmond workshop to welcome pollinators into gardens

Richmond’s savvy gardeners will know that inviting pollinators and other beneficial species into their garden beds can lead to horticultural success, and if they take part in an upcoming workshop, they will know just what to do to make their yard welcoming.

VanDusen Gardens has organized a schedule of online workshops, and one of these will review ways of being kind to bees and other creatures that are beneficial to plants. Lori Weidenhammer will be the facilitator for the function, and she has a wealth of experience when it comes to horticulture.

During the function, the audience will find out why many species of bees are under threat and what they can do to help. They will also discover how to identify the pollinators they see and how to choose plants and plan beds so they will encourage helpful insects, birds and other garden helpers to take up residence.

The advice shared in this sort of session can be applied to almost any situation, whether it is for a huge property or a small pot out on a balcony. It also gives green thumbs a chance to connect, and a poster printing source in the local area will be able to help market this type of event to the community.

This instalment of the VanDusen Gardens’ online program will take place on February 20th. The registration fee is $20, and it will begin at 10:00am.
