Richmond gallery exhibits to continue into the new year

The residents of Richmond have until mid-January to enjoy two thematically similar exhibits at the city’s Art Gallery venue.

The first, entitled ‘Verb Woman: the wall is in my head/a dance of forgetting’, has been open to visitors since November 16. It is a one-woman show by Margaret Dragu, who is a Governor-General's Award winner. It features video footage from Berlin and Belfast, as well as several interactive props.

The second annual ‘Memory: International Mail Art Exhibition and Swap’ show began on November 17. The pieces were collected through a mail exchange and the exhibit features original Postcards with the theme of memory, which were received from all over the world.

Artists could submit their works through mail or over the internet. After the exhibition ends, the artists who have been featured can exchange their works for those of another creator.

It is likely that the organizers of these exhibitions have been advertising both shows throughout the Richmond area. Local Print companies are often asked to provide marketing products such as Flyers to help with publicity campaigns. The materials can then be sent through Direct Mail, delivered door-to-door, inserted in local newspapers, or just handed out on the street; Flyers are seen by many as one of the most effective products.

The two displays will be open at the Richmond Art Gallery until January 12. The gallery, which is located in the city’s Cultural Centre, is open seven days and week from 10:00am. Admission is free. To find out more, call 604-247-8312.
