Sport Check flagship store to re-open
Those Edmonton sports enthusiasts who have long considered Sport Check at the West Edmonton Mall to be the place to go for their gear and other supplies now have even more reason to visit.
The store has been redesigned, and combines Sport Check on the first floor with Atmosphere outdoor outfitters on the second level. This is the chains flagship location, and as such, it is the testing ground for new displays and technologies.
As soon as shoppers step through the door, they will be treated to a unique sensory experience. It is modeled after a players’ entrance to a football or hockey arena, and is outfitted with motion activated sensors linked to screens that show inspirational sporting images.
Once they are inside, customers can try out the gait analyzer, the golfers SwingFlight scope, or the interactive climbing treadmill. They can even practice how to light their new camp stove. Video screens will display product information when an item imbedded with a chip is placed near them.
The staff will be issued tablets, which they can use to bring up information to help them answer customers’ questions. There is even a community center where the public can sign up for local events and access the national and provincial park system.
All of this has been designed to provide a shopping experience that will entice people to come into the store rather than just shop online.
