A fundraiser has been scheduled for Edmonton, and it will offer a taste of what its unhoused population goes through, 365 days a year.
Dubbed the “Coldest Night of the Year”, the funding and awareness raiser is part of a nationwide movement. It will be family friendly, and the monies raised will support the Bissell Centre and its programming.
The walk will both begin and end at Boyle Street Plaza, and there will be both 2km and 5km options. While they walk, the participants will be showing support and solidarity with the city’s homeless, and before they take to the sidewalk, there will be face painting and other activities. Afterwards, everyone can come together to enjoy the warm feeling of helping others, as well as a hot meal.
A walk or other public activity that works to raise knowledge of a cause may benefit from the services available at a local banner printing company. Such a company can create attention-grabbing signage and Banners for the participants to carry, which can go a long way towards increasing awareness.
Those who would like to make a difference in the lives of their neighbours in need are encouraged to add their name to the list of participants for the Coldest Night of the Year: A Winter Walk in Support of Bissell Centre. It will take place on February 28. The pre-walk activities and registration will begin at 4:00 pm.
