New tall building on the way for Edmonton

A new high-rise, constructed by the same company that is developing the area, will be going up in Edmonton’s arena district.

The firm, WAM Developments, will undertake the construction of the new building on Jasper avenue between 120 and 121st streets. The plan is for the work to start in the fall of 2016 and to finish in the fall of 2018.

The building will house both retail and commercial space, as well as a residential lobby for those who live in there. There will be a condominium office on the second floor, and 300 condo units on the upper levels of the tower. Each level of the structure will be approximately 33,840 square feet.

It is hoped that one of the tenants to move their offices into the building will be the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and talks are currently underway to investigate the possibility of making that happen. The not-for-profit group has had its head offices on Japes Avenue for the past 60 years.

A project like this can bring new life to a city. Keeping the public informed about what is happening can help to build public support for it. Poster printing companies can create large visual displays of what it will look like.

WAM is also constructing, along with the Katz Group, a new luxury four star hotel in the arena district. It will be the first of its kind to be built in the city in the past 30 years.
