The Edmonton Triathlon Academy is presenting the Edmonton Triathalon Festival at Wm Hawrelak Park from July 6 - 8; this event is sanctioned by the Pan American Championships and the 2012 Canadian Age Group Championships. The triathlon is also part of the International Triathlon Union World Cup Tour.
A triathlon consists of running, swimming and cycling and is an Olympic Games event. There will be several levels of competition at the Edmonton Triathlon Festival including elite, junior elite, paralympic, team relay and Kids of Steel. Athletes will be coming from around the world to compete in this world cup event. It will be a good chance for those who have never witnessed a triathlon to get a close up look at what is involved and to enjoy watching elite athletes compete.
In addition to the triathlon activities, there will also be live entertainment, food tents and sponsor booths. Sponsor booths will not necessarily just be related to athletics and will probably have much that is of interest to passers-by. Edmonton printing companies will no doubt be called upon to supply banner printing and sign printing service; these sponsors will be competed for the attention of those who have come to witness elite athletics and will need something special to make their booth stand out from the others; a colourful banner hung over a tent and that can be seen across a field will definitely draw people.
World class athletic events don't often come to Edmonton and the Edmonton Triathlon Festival is one event that should not be missed.
Admission is free for spectators.
