Edmonton to hold Rucksack March of Remembrance
Named for the rucksack carried by members of the Canadian Forces, the Rucksack March of Remembrance – otherwise called the Ruck for Remembrance – will be taking place in cites all across Canada this autumn, including Edmonton.
This October, Edmonton’s Rundle Family Centre in Rundle Park will be the staging area for this annual fundraiser that supports the efforts of Wounded Warriors Canada. There are three options on the agenda, and those who would like to take part can choose from the 5, 11 and 22 km routes.
The day will open with check in and some remarks before the participants take to the course. Once they have completed their route, the participants will be able to ease any aching muscles in the massage therapy area and relax with a cold beer. Awards will be presented, and everyone will be thanked for their support of the cause.
The monies raised will be used to provide support and programming for veterans and first responders, as well as their families. It has a focus on mental health support. A fundraiser like this may also be helpful in increasing community awareness. A poster printing company will be able to craft marketing materials for such an event.
The Edmonton instalment of the Rucksack March for Remembrance will be held on October 19th. Its registration system is now open on the Ruck for Remembrance website.
