Canadian rock duo Death from Above will visit Edmonton this June, as part of a tour focused on the 15th anniversary of their debut album.
The band is known for their hard rock sound that also incorporates elements of dance and noise music. The band was formerly known as Death from Above 1979 due to a copyright dispute, but is now touring again under their original name.
Death from Above is the duo of Jesse F. Keeler and Sebastien Granger. They were most popular during the early 2000s, highlighted by the gold album ‘You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine’ and alternative-radio hits like “Romantic Rights” and “Black History Month.” The duo split due to creative differences in 2006, but re-formed in 2011 and have since released two studio albums, a live recording, and a documentary entitled Life After Death from Above 1979.
The Edmonton stop of the upcoming tour will take place on June 1 at The Starlite Room. The show will look to draw in rock fans from Edmonton as well as surrounding cities like Beaumont and Leduc.
Alternative rock shows like this may not have the same promotional presence as stadium-filling acts, but often use poster printing and flyer printing to let fans know that their favourites are in town. Tickets are usually offered at a cheaper rate if booked in advance, which is the case for this show.
