Residents of Edmonton are invited to take part in a dinner that will give a unique opportunity to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, if just for an evening.
Dinner in the Dark will feature a three-course meal that includes a pasta dish, garlic toast, Caesar salad, and a brownie for dessert. While the dinner may be restaurant style, there is a catch; the diners will all be blindfolded while they eat, giving them a chance to experience what it is like to do something as simple as enjoy a meal when blind or having a severe visual impairment. Digital printers can prepare all the printed materials, from tickets to decorations, Menus, Brochures, and other items that can help to make an event like this a success.
Along with the food, there will be an official welcome and opening remarks, a silent auction and raffle, and afterwards, a chance to socialize so that those who took part can discuss their experience with the other participants. The ticket price for the evening has been set at $17.15, with all of the proceeds raised going to the Foundation for Fighting Blindness.
The Dinner in the Dark will take place on June 6 at Archbishop O’Leary High School starting at 6:00 pm. More information and a chance to purchase tickets is available on the event’s website.
