Beer Festival coming to Edmonton

After being held in Calgary for the last nine years, the Craft Beer Festival is now set to move north, giving Edmonton beer buffs an opportunity to raise a pint, or few, in celebration of the fine art of brewing.

The festival celebrates brewing culture in Alberta by showcasing 325 different craft beers from around the world. Print companies will certainly be proud to have their work displayed for all to see around the festival and perhaps even on the sides of different bottles.

Recipe secrets and stories will be shared by respected brewmasters, who will be offering an education on just what makes for a good drink.

The People’s Choice Awards will give attendees the opportunity to put their palates up against the professional judges.

Information on beer pairings for a variety of food dishes will be shared as well as ways for those in the culinary arts to work beer into the menu.

Those who aren’t beer connoisseurs will still be able to find something appealing, with a wide range of flavored beers on hand to sample.

Tickets for the event, which runs over June 14 and 15 at the Edmonton Expo Centre, can be purchased at select locations within the Sobeys grocery chain, or online at www.albertabeerfestivals.com

Beer fanatics can skip the lineups with a ‘VIP Beer Geek’ pass from Mill Street Brewing. The pass will give the holder access to the festival one hour ahead of the crowds, and will provide the opportunity to attend a special seminar hosted by Mill Street, featuring a selection of beers which have never been available in Alberta before.
