Edmonton Valley Zoo has organized a special evening for autistics that will dial back the sensory input, and it will be taking place this August.
Alothough a visit to the zoo can be exciting for a child, kids with autism or other sensory processing issues may find it overwhelming. Autism Edmonton will be hosting a private night at the zoo, and it is open to autistics as well as their neurotypical siblings and parents or caregivers. The noise level will be kept to a minimum during the event, and the visitors will be able to meet each of the zoo’s 350 residents.
Along with the animals, guests at the function will be invited to go for a spin on the zoo’s rides and other attractions. Light refreshments will be supplied to the families, and there is no admission fee to register to be a part of the fun.
While the event is free of charge, donations to help meet the cost of offering the activity will be welcome. Swag such as promotional Pens, fridge magnets, colouring sheets and other items can be prepared for distribution to the kids who participate in an event like this by local printing services companies.
The Edmonton Valley Zoo is set to welcome families for this special visit on August 18. The doors will be open to the guests at 6:30 pm.
