The Project Management Institute, Northern Alberta Chapter (PMI-NAC) has been providing Alberta and Northwest Territories businesses with their services for 30 years. Among the 1100 members of the PMI-NAC are business leaders from all types of industries. The organization, which has chapters in 171 countries, provides services for business people such as monthly meetings and networking opportunities, professional development courses, seminars, a scholarship program, volunteer opportunities and various events. They also advise businesses on how to become PMI certified.
Project management is defined as the “planning, organizing, securing and managing resources to achieve specific goals.” Every type of business needs to be concerned with project management if they want to be successful; project managers make sure that everything gets done on time and correctly using tools they have learned by studying project management. Local printing companies can help a company to put those goals into a hard copy manual to be distributed to their employees.
The Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton is holding a 30th anniversary celebration in honour of the PMI-NAC on November 12. Tickets are $100 and limited to 170; guests who attend will have access to the gallery. The black-tie event will be hosted by Randy Black and will feature a 3-course gourmet dinner, a wine reception, music from the Stringbeans Quartet, a photo booth, 4 cash bars and magic; a “lunch” will also be served at 10pm. In addition, keynote speaker Jim Hole will speak about “Building the Future.”
