RayC the great Grey Owl to appear at Edmonton event

Whether they are a small saw-whet or a big great horned, many types of owls can be found in and around Edmonton. Though often unseen, these quiet hunters perform a valuable service to humanity, and will be the guests of honour at an upcoming Edmonton mixer.

Local nature lovers are invited to be part of an evening that will feature a presentation by Dr. Gordon Court, who will be bringing along a special guest. Dr. Court is the Provincial Wildlife Status Biologist for the Fish and Wildlife Division with the Government of Alberta, and his friend RayC, who is a great grey owl, will be coming along with him to meet attendees.

During the evening, the group will learn about the various species of owls and the efforts that are being made at the local, regional and national level to protect them. Owl banding will also be discussed, and with wine and light refreshments set to be passed, it can prove to be an experience that’s as enjoyable as it is informative.

To help a function like this make the right impression, a Print shop can supply a variety of materials to help attendees learn.

The John Janzen Nature Centre will be offering this sneak peek into the world of owls on Friday, March 20th.
