What's Happening in Edmonton, AB…

Help wishes come true by shopping at Weestock

The 4th annual Weestock, Spring Edition will take place at the Edmonton Aviation Heritage Centre on April 21 from 10am - 4pm. Tickets are $5, or $3 after 1 pm, with children under 12 admitted free. The first 100 admitted will receive a gift bag. All proceeds go to Alexander’s Quest, a charity that grants wishes to children with cancer.

Vendors, handpicked by the organizers, come from all over Alberta. They must be independent Canadian businesses, sell products for children 0-6 years and their products must be handmade, organic, or ethically produced. Booth rental begins at $108. Those vendors, many from Alberta, will most likely be arranging for the printing of catalogs, brochures and other marketing materials to give to those who shop with them or visit their booth. A catalog, brochure, or flyer can provide a visitor with something to take home to remember the company. They can be secure that most professional printing companies take care not to damage the environment by using recycled papers, vegetable based ink, and that they believe in safe disposable of any chemicals they do use.

In addition to vendors, raffle tickets will be available for purchase. There will also be coffee, drinks and food for sale provided by Java Mama.

It is often hard to find companies that cater to babies, toddlers and new moms that are also dedicated to organic and natural products. You never know if the products were ethically produced or if they were created in a sweat shop. Events such as Weestock can set a parent’s mind at ease; they are not only supporting homemade or natural products, but they are supporting an independent Canadian business.
